Description
Our class had the assignment to draw a self portrait of what makes you, you as opposed to drawing a face because, lets face it, traditional self portraits tell jack about the artist.
Left to right:
-Watson jumping out the way of the bike- 1. i love Sherlock Holmes 2. I can be a bit of a pushover sometimes.
-Red Skull getting his a** handed to him by Captain America- 1. friends call me patriotic 2. i love comic books 3. cap is my favorite superhero.
-guy on 19th century bicycle- 1. i am in love with the 19th century for reasons i don't know 2. I have a suit fetish >.>
-compass on the back wheel- 1.friends refer to me as a moral compass. I have been called "gabbidy cricket"(jiminy cricket) before. 2. God is sometimes referred to as a compass in artwork (art history)
-music notes- 1. i grew up listening to classical 2. if you look carefully, you'll notice it squiggles in the back. reason: i can't play for jack, but i am a music appreciator. 3.its an actual song: offenbach's can can [link] - that song always makes me happy.
-221b sherlock holmes- 1. sherlock holmes is what got me into reading 2. big fan of Peter Cushing
-four dogs- my actual four dogs.
-mario rescuing luigi off my dog roxy's back- 1. mario bros was a large part of my childhood and got me into drawing and video games. there are several other mario tid bits to reinforce the idea.
-pixelation- i am the occasional digital photographer- amateur, no doubt.
-darth vader- i am a star wars geek. it was a large part of my childhood as well as my brother's and cousin's (my family calls my cousin obi wan because his name is ovi)

-agent smith from the matrix- 1. love that trilogy 2. i have a tendency to like villains as opposed to heroes 3. he's just badass.
-man of la mancha- you would not believe how much of that was part of my childhood...
-disney logo- children of the 90s should know.
- mario mountains being wrapped around musical notes- 1. mario again 2. those hills have eyeballs, thus they are alive. they are being wrapped by music notes: "THE HILLS ARE ALIVE WITH THE SOUND OF MUSIC" (sound of music was part of growing up for me too)
