The Time of Sadness

The time has come, though it will pass
The time of sadness will not last
It may haunt you every day
But like your tears, it wipes away
A constant pain, an endless buzz
Circulates, roams, and lingers as it does
Or so it feels
remind yourself of what is real
You feel unworthy; feel like trash
tossed away, burned to ash
Make a return and conquer all
The time of sadness indeed will fall

You call out with silent screams
It haunts you even in your dreams
In the dark with no light seen
There is one sitting where it has been
It calls to you at this time
And yet you sit there and decline
“There is hope” it says to you
“The time of sadness will fall through.”

You think to end it with belt ‘round neck
End yourself: the emotional wreck
“Life is cold and unkind”
You say to yourself as you unwind
Find the warmth, find the breeze
No one said life came with ease
The time of sadness seems endless now
But one day it will take its bow

Trust is tested, tried and true
Friends will be there for you
Shut them out, don’t let them know
Flash fake smiles worth millions in dough
The façade breaks when you’re all alone
To the time of sadness, you must atone

You owe it nothing, yet it calls for debt
“You owe me for that time of regret”
One mistake, let it pass
“No” it says, “You’re mine ‘till the last”
The time of sadness is a collector of sorts
It finds payment in your remorse

It grips you, makes you suffocate
Makes you feel alone when others relate
The time of sadness isolates
Do not be fooled, you are great

It loses strength, it loses grip
“No” it cries, “this can’t be it”
The time of sadness struggles on
though will not last until the dawn

The light of hope has come to say
“The time of sadness is wiped away”

You stand unsure of what to do
But the light of hope bathes over you
Dawn is here with morning’s light
The time of sadness ends with night

There is release, freedom at last
Time to forget what has past
Trial and tribulation are done and through
A chapter begins with life anew

You look around with brand new eyes
No longer yourself do you despise
Liberated from all that haunted before
Now you walk through the wide open door
Like time before and time again
The time of hope shall now begin

Walking along the daily road
You notice something as you strode
The time of sadness beckons you
“Come to me, I miss you too”
Ignoring it, you pressed on
All the feelings left bygone
The time of sadness can’t let go
and yet you have as time has shown

A genuine smile crosses your lips
The time of sadness puts hands on its hips
“This cannot be, I do not accept”
The time of sadness is left inept
You have a new friend, a good friend indeed
To the light of hope you now concede
The time of sadness calls now and then
Though its reign of tyranny has come to an end

No longer unsure or consumed by fear
You now walk with the air of a cavalier
Bare the armor of truth and a two edged sword
With the light of hope as your faithful ward
Discern all traps that lay before you
The time of sadness set quite a few
You will not falter, you will not fall
The light of hope guides through all
The time of sadness claimed not just you
Others still wait for morning dew
With the light of hope by your side
The time of sadness' end is nigh
